Stress in Language School, as illustrated in living color by yours truly

If you’ve ever wondered why in the world language school is so stressful, I’ve spent some time thinking about it over the last year.


Yesterday, many of you were praying for me as I presented my thesis to an audience at the language school. Though we had some hiccups due to a (well, we don’t know yet, but hoping the doctor can put a name to it this week!), here it is. After my throat started closing up 5 minutes into the talk, we shut off the video and came up with a plan that included having a couple audience members read the longer quotes to give me a chance to re-group with hot tea and cough drops.


So, like a good train wreck that you can’t look away from, here it is:


Although it was humbling, it was interesting that the very thing I was talking about was being illustrated in front of the audience — what to do when the “hassles” of life stress you out in a foreign context.


Then, it was off to the hospital for more blood work for me!
