ABOUT US

As new and seasoned missionaries deal with both the daily struggles of...well, life, and also the rigors of an overwhelming (or in some cases an under-whelming) missionary “to-do list,” they often become painfully aware of their personal need for  soul care. The ones that come to this realization are the blessed ones (many others often just become “statistics”).

Krista and Joel McCutcheon were not an exception to this unfortunate phenomenon. Within a few years of being missionaries, they were being reminded daily of just how desperate their souls needed the gospel -- they just didn’t realize it at the time. And then the gospel found them in the form of biblical counseling. It was like “spring rain” (Hosea 6:3) to their souls. After seeing their marriage being transformed by the hope of the gospel, they went on to earn their master’s degrees in Biblical Counseling and offered pastoral care to incoming missionaries at The Spanish Language Institute in San José, Costa Rica, for nine years.

During their time at the language school, Joel and Krista saw an opportunity to teach biblical counseling to churches and missionaries and moved into that position, while continuing to offer pastoral care to those already serving on the field.

In addition to offering pastoral care to people in ministry, Joel and Krista partner with Overseas Instruction In Counseling to teach basic counseling skills to church and ministry leaders throughout Central America where they have lived for the past 15 years. They have two young adult daughters.
