Pioneering…into the Ice Age.

I love the internet. It’s one of the things I miss most about where I live. (Yes, friends and family are a close second, but I can even justify that because with the internet I could Skype them whenever I forgot my favorite recipe or wanted to see what Mom and Dad’s Christmas tree looks like this year.) So, yes, it’s internet that I miss the most.  🙂

I was super excited to get online today at a friend’s house and check my email. There, my mom had suggested I check out the “Pioneer Woman” website she recently discovered, thinking it would be of great help to me in my domestic endeavors in a place that doesn’t include Target (I know, can you believe it??). It’s not totally remote, but I’m always looking for recipes that don’t include Jell-O packets or Velveeta cheese in them (let’s just say it this way to be nice — I can’t even get that here if I were interested in looking).

So, I found this delightful recipe on the Pioneer Woman site for Buttered Rosemary Rolls baked in an iron skillet. I read with delight, imagining how impressed my husband would be that I was using actual herbs and spices, baking everything from scratch…until I got to the ingredient list. The first item is: “Frozen, Unbaked Dinner Rolls.”

I’m curious as to where a “Pioneer Woman” is supposed to find frozen dinner rolls. Not to mention the fact that I’m supposed to melt the butter in my non-existent microwave!

Back to the drawing board for this cowgirl. By the way, if you have suggestions, I’m all ears!
