Last week, I got to be a part of a women’s lunch at church. Our community is pretty mixed with gringos (foreigners) and Ticos (Costa Ricans) so our church is a bilingual outreach to both groups. While everything that is said in the service is translated into both languages, it can be difficult for those with limited language skills to mingle. So, food always helps break the awkward silence! The women talked about their differences and what we can do, as Christian women, to model good cross-cultural relationships in our community.
